Eleanor Research Books. The Good and the not so good.

The best. A really good selection of information on Eleanor, her life and times

Verdict: Excellent series of essays. Good

Verdict: One of the better biographies and gets Eleanor's age right

Verdict. One of the shortest but best biographies available - and Hilton gets Eleanor's age right too.

Verdict:Beautifully written and one of the better old fashioned biographies. Obviously research has moved on in a big way since this was written though

Verdict: Beautifully written but not terrible accurate these days. Useful for an overview

Verdict: Lightweight and dated, but still useful for a general overview

Verdict: Old fashioned, dated and not particularly useful except as an addition to the canon

Verdict: Good but patchy and sometimes inaccurate

Verdict: Have a large pinch of salt at the ready. Okay as an overview but be prepared to read around the subject and don't take anything you read here as gospel. Popular does not mean strong on the interpretation or scholarship
